COUNT Function

The Excel COUNT function can be used to count the cells containing numbers.

Return value

Number equivalent to the count of numbers

Syntax

=COUNT(value1, [value2], …)

Arguments

value1 – The first item, cell reference, or range within which you want to count numbers

value2 – [optional] The second item, cell reference or range. Up to 255 arguments can be specified inside COUNT function.

Notes

COUNT ignores the logical values TRUE and FALSE.

COUNT ignores text values and empty cells.
