PDF to Excel

Convert tables in a PDF, such as bank statements, invoices, sales reports and price lists, into an Excel file you can sort, filter and total. Unlike most converters, your PDF is never uploaded: it’s read inside your browser.

How to convert a PDF to Excel

  1. Choose your PDF, or drag it onto the box.
  2. Check the preview. Each line of the PDF becomes a row, and columns are lined up by position.
  3. Choose whether you want all pages in one sheet or one sheet per page, then click Download Excel file.

What works best

  • Works well: PDFs created from software, such as bank statements downloaded from net banking, GST reports, Tally exports and invoices.
  • Doesn’t work: scanned PDFs or photos of paper, because they contain an image rather than text. Those need OCR software.
  • Password-protected PDFs need the password removed first.

Tidy the result in Excel

PDF layouts vary, so some cleaning is normal. These help:

Problem Fix
Dates stay as text =DATEVALUE(A2), or Data → Text to Columns → Date
Header rows repeat on every page Filter the header text and delete those rows
Blank rows Sort or filter, then delete the blanks
Numbers with Dr/Cr =VALUE(SUBSTITUTE(A2," Dr",""))

Convert PDFs inside Excel with Power Query

Excel for Microsoft 365 can read PDFs directly: Data → Get Data → From File → From PDF. Pick the table, and Power Query keeps the steps, so next month’s statement converts with one click on Refresh. See Power Query in Excel.

Are my files safe?

Yes. Your files are opened and converted inside your own browser. They are never uploaded to this site or anywhere else, which matters for salary sheets, bank statements and customer data. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads, and the tool still works.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free?

Yes, with no page limits, watermarks or sign-up.

Can it convert scanned PDFs?

No. Scanned PDFs are images, so there’s no text to read. Use OCR software first.

Why are some columns merged or split?

The tool lines up columns by where text sits on the page. If a PDF has uneven spacing, a column can shift. Check the preview, and fix any stray cells in Excel.
