Split one big Excel sheet into smaller ones: one file per branch, salesperson or customer, or chunks of a set number of rows for uploading to another system. The header row is repeated in every part, and your file never leaves your computer.
Two ways to split
| Option | Example |
|---|---|
| By the values in a column | A sales sheet with a Region column becomes North, South, East and West |
| Every N rows | A 10,000-row list becomes ten files of 1,000 rows each, for upload limits |
Choose one workbook with a tab for each part, or separate files. Separate files download one after another, so allow multiple downloads if your browser asks.
Do it with a formula in Excel 365
To pull one group into its own sheet, use FILTER. With data in Data!A2:D500 and the region in column B:
=FILTER(Data!A2:D500,Data!B2:B500="North")The result updates automatically when the data changes. The tool above is quicker for making separate files to send to different people.
Are my files safe?
Yes. Your files are opened and converted inside your own browser. They are never uploaded to this site or anywhere else, which matters for salary sheets, bank statements and customer data. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads, and the tool still works.
Frequently asked questions
Is the header row repeated?
Yes, when “First row is a header” is ticked.
How are parts named?
By the column value, such as North, or by row range, such as Rows 1-1000.
Can I split by more than one column?
Not directly. Add a helper column in Excel that joins them, such as =B2&" - "&C2, then split by that column.
